Yesterday, the EU High Level Group on combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance -of which the mission is to help EU and national partners to address the issues of online hate crime and hate speech – adopted a guidance note called “On the practical application of the council framework decision on certain forms and expressions of racism and xenophobia by means of criminal law”.

This EU platform works on two priority areas, which are dealt by different subgroups, namely countering hate speech online and improving methodologies for recording and collecting data on hate crime.

This is a strong message to the world and a positive step towards the regulation of online hate crimes
